The Kivubelt group was established in 2011 by Furaha Umwizey. He started with a single coffee plantation, and set to work on developing a sustainable farming model that could be applied throughout the surrounding community. Kivubelt eventually acquired two washing stations in the area and now they service more than 500 smallholders in the Nyamasheke region, offering quality premiums and vocational training for participating farmers. This lot in particular is referred to as the "People's Farm," to honor the work of the tight-knit community of small farmers who came together to produce it.

JARAMA KIVUBELT is sweet and crisp, with stonefruit juiciness and deep florals that remind us of a cup of earl grey. It has the distinctly complex and herbaceous type of profile we typically look for in washed East African offerings, but is also delightfully approachable at the same time.
