La Ceiba, the national tree of Guatemala, has been an important symbol in the region since the early history of Mayan and Mesoamerican civilization. La Ceiba traditionally represents the connection between land and sky, and this coffee is a perfect example the beauty that can result when the two realms combine their creative potential. The first thing that impressed us about this coffee was its superbly creamy body, a common feature of fine coffees from Huehuetenango. As the cup cools, its crisp acidity and chocolaty sweetness move to the forefront, making for one damn good cup of coffee from start to finish.
Who should drink this: Anyone who is into heady nature imagery, or just a great cup of Central American coffee.
