The Kimel Estate is a model for community empowerment and ecologically responsible practices. Originally established by Bobby Gibbs in 1974, ownership of the farm has since transferred to traditional landowners made up of members of several local tribal communities. Farm workers are provided with housing and access to clean water, as well as guaranteed medical care for themselves and their families. The Kimel Estate also engages in sustainability-focused practices such as reusing pulp as organic fertilizer, and recycling much of the water used in the washing process.
Their most recent offering is our favorite PNG to date. Juicy and herbaceous, with fig-like sweetness and a pleasantly floral aroma, these shade-grown beans produce a cup of coffee worth truly savoring. We were sold on the first sip.
Who should drink this: This coffee is truly unique, yet effortlessly approachable. We suggest everyone give it a try.
